Speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of Lueta Phanit, Minister Vashum called for a renewed commitment to growth and improvement within the Tangkhul community with the celebrations of the festival. He emphasized the importance of adopting a clear division of labor across various sectors of society. “We need to allow Church leaders to focus on their spiritual duties, politicians to manage their responsibilities, and civil society members to contribute positively. The same principle applies to bureaucrats and village authorities,” he stated, underscoring that everyone works for the fulfillment of their goals.
Khashim Vashum continued, “Be it struggles for one’s dreams or contributions to society, the goal is the same which is for the goodness and betterment of life individually or collectively,” He urged community members to work independently, free from unnecessary external interference, noting that mixing roles could lead to confusion and conflict. “Only when society collectively embraces this principle can we truly progress and achieve collective growth,” he added.
The day also witnessed musical performances from a line-up of popular Tangkhul artists including Thangmeiso Shinglai, Oshim Soho, Shimreingam and Nimshimphi Muivah.
