New Delhi, September 25: The Naga Scholars’ Association, New Delhi, has strongly condemned the recent death threat and derogatory remarks directed at Dr. Rosemary Dzuvichu, a distinguished academic, women’s leader, and Adviser to the Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA).

In a statement issued, the Association described such actions as a direct affront to democratic values, women’s dignity, and the principles of free expression and civic engagement. The accused, identified as W.J. Longkumer, has been arrested in Dimapur, a step that the Association welcomed. However, it emphasized that threats, abusive trolling, and targeted intimidation in the public sphere are wholly unacceptable.

“Online harassment and violent rhetoric not only endanger individuals but also erode the social fabric and democratic discourse of our society,” the statement noted.

The Naga Scholars’ Association further urged all social media platforms, including groups such as United Nagaland for Christ and others, to actively monitor, remove, and block posts or comments that issue threats or incite hatred against individuals. The Association stressed that digital spaces must remain forums for constructive dialogue, not platforms for harassment or fear.

The Association also called upon the State Government, law enforcement agencies, and the Cyber Crime Police to pursue the case with urgency and impartiality, ensuring justice and adequate protection for Dr. Dzuvichu and other women leaders. It noted that prompt and decisive measures would send a strong message that the rule of law prevails over intimidation.

The Naga Scholars’ Association reaffirmed its full solidarity with Dr. Dzuvichu and the NMA, stating that attempts to silence women’s voices through threats and abuse are regressive acts that undermine democratic values, social justice, and intellectual discourse. The statement concluded by asserting that such cowardly behaviour will not weaken the collective resolve to uphold justice, equality, and dignity for all.
