Northeast Frontier Railway Arranges Two Special Trains for Kharchi Puja 2025

Agartala, Jul 3: To ease the expected rush of pilgrims during Tripura’s grand religious celebration—Kharchi Puja—the state government, in collaboration with the Northeast Frontier Railway, has arranged two special trains between Agartala and Dharmanagar.

These trains will operate daily from July 4 to July 9, making six trips per day to facilitate smooth travel for thousands of devotees visiting the sacred Chaturdash Devata Temple in Old Agartala.

Each train will consist of six coaches, designed to accommodate the surge in passenger traffic during the week-long festival. Held annually, Kharchi Puja is one of Tripura’s most significant religious events, drawing large crowds from across the state and beyond. The special train services are seen as a major logistical support to ensure pilgrims can travel comfortably and safely during the celebrations.
