NPF to Support NDPP Candidate in Nagaland, Mulls Over Outer Manipur Constituency

Dimapur: The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has decided not to field candidate in Nagaland state in the upcoming Lok Sabha election but to lend support to the NDPP candidate in the Lok Sabha poll in Nagaland state. With regard to the Manipur Outer Parliamentary constituency, a search committee of the NPF has been formed to “identify the rightful candidate”.

The Working Committee (WC) meeting of the NPF was held today at the party’s central office in Kohima and “unanimously adopted resolutions. One of the resolutions stated, “Upholding the spirit of Opposition-less Government which is now at the helms of affairs in the State of Nagaland with an objective to play the role of an active facilitators to bring about an early honourable, acceptable and inclusive solution to the protracted Indo-Naga political issue, the Working Committee resolved to extend support to the NDPP candidate, Dr. Chumben Murry for the lone Nagaland State Parliamentary constituency in the ensuing Lok Sabha Election 2024.

The second resolution said that, as far as the Outer Manipur Parliamentary constituency is concerned; there are four applicants including the sitting MP seeking NPF ticket. Therefore, the central office of the NPF constituted a search committee to identify the rightful candidate whose report and recommendation is still awaited. Hence, the Working Committee of the NPF resolved to meet again on March 18, 2024, at the NPF central office in Kohima to discuss and decide on the matter.
