UKHRUL: The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) has strongly rejected allegations contained in a recent order issued by the Government of India and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), describing the claims as “unsubstantiated” and an attempt to attribute guilt without evidence.
In a press statement issued on June 24 by the Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP), NSCN/GPRN, the NSCN took exception to an order bearing reference F. No. 11011/24/2026/NIA, stating that the government’s assertions were “not a statement of facts” but rather “an accusation wrapped in the language of authority.” The group alleged that the Centre had chosen “presumption over proof and narrative over evidence” by linking it to a grave and politically sensitive incident.

The NSCN categorically denied any involvement in the alleged destruction of poppy fields, the exchange of fire, or the deaths referred to in the order. It maintained that any attempt to connect the organisation to the incident lacked evidence and appeared intended to influence public opinion before the conduct of a fair and independent inquiry.
Seeking to counter what it termed “misleading narratives,” the NSCN further asserted that it is neither a terrorist organisation nor a banned outfit under Indian law. The group also referred to the Milan Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on November 18, 2002, describing it as an instrument aimed at securing peace and dignity for communities affected by decades of conflict. It urged the Government of India to honour its commitments under the agreement in a transparent and sincere manner.
The NSCN said it rejects the order in its entirety and condemned what it described as a reckless attempt to manufacture guilt without proof. It further stated that in a conflict-affected region, truth should not be sacrificed for convenience.
