Racial Abuse Allegations Surface After Arunachal Group Targeted in Patna

UKHRUL: A video circulating online has triggered widespread outrage after a dance group from Arunachal Pradesh was allegedly subjected to racial abuse in Patna, with many internet users calling for strict action against those responsible.

The incident reportedly took place on Thursday when members of the group attempted to use a public washroom. According to accounts shared online, an attendant stopped them and demanded identification. The situation escalated when racial remarks were allegedly hurled against the girls, with terms such as “Momos,” “Chinese,” and “Chinki,” used while laughing. The exchange was captured on video.

In the footage, one of the women from Arunachal Pradesh is seen expressing distress, saying, “We come from the Northeast to travel, but because of incidents like this, we are scared.”

This incident comes amid a series of recent cases involving racial abuse against individuals from Northeast India. In a similar case reported in March, two persons—one from Manipur and another from Assam were allegedly assaulted by a group of juveniles. Four minors were later arrested after the victims claimed they were physically attacked, punched, and struck with belts while being subjected to racial slurs during the altercation.
