Senapati: The Senapati District Students Association together with student leaders of Mao Students Union (MSU), Maram Students Union (MKS), Poumai Naga Students Union (PNTM), Thangal Students Union (TAJ) and Zeliangrong Students Union, Senapati Zone (ZSU) had visited the accident site where three loaded trucks skidded off the road and met with accident at Likhru Bridge, between Chakumei and Makhan.
Addressing media persons, Pung Mark, president, SDSA stated that during their visit to the accident site, only temporary measures were found installed at the site.
The SDSA had reportedly appealed the state government and the district administration for necessary construction and to expand the road wherever necessary. With no concrete step to protect from the accident prone zone, another cement loaded truck skidded off the road and fell on the Likhru river.
Four precious lives were lost during the previous two accidents and both the driver and handyman sustained injuries in the third latest accident of Tuesday morning. The student bodies found some lapses in the construction of the bridge that needs to be expanded.

The team found some NHIDCL workers putting up temporary crash barrier but resented not to solve the problem by such temporary measures. Out of much appeals to the state government and Senapati district administration to act at the earliest time possible, no definite change could be seen at the site so far, Pung Mark lamented.
The student leader warned of taking up the issue to the concerned union ministry if no progress is seen at the earliest, or the student bodies may be compelled to impose democratic form of agitation including call for blockade in the Natioinal Highway lifeline of Manipur. The state government had reportedly assured several times to act at the earliest but nothing has been seen so far.
The injured driver was of Tuesday’s accident is identified as one, Md. Barish Khan, S/o Md. Ajigur Rahman of Lilong Makha Leikai and the injured handyman is identified as one, Md. Mustakim, S/o Md. Sana of Lilong Chingkham Makha Dam.
