SDSA condemns placing of 2 mobile phones at Senapati

Senapati: The office of the Senapati District Students’ Association expressed its deep concern over the mysterious disappearance of two Meitei boys, a 16-year-old Ashish Kumar [name changed], and Ningthoujam Anthony, aged 19, who are suspected to have been kidnapped by some unknown miscreants on their way to Sekmai from Imphal on Nov 5, 2023.

The Senapati student body in their condemnation note issued on Monday stated that it is disconcerting to know that the mobile phones of the missing boys were found placed near a petrol pump in Senapati, adding that “This has created a high sense of mistrust and misunderstanding between different communities.”

“Though the state of Manipur has been reeling from the ethnic conflict between two rival ethnic groups for the past few months, the Nagas have so far been maintaining a neutral position and has been advocating and appealing for peace and for normalcy to return to the state as everyone is suffering due to the conflict,” maintained SDSA.

Condemning the act of planting the phones of the missing 2 Meitei boys in Naga area, SDSA said the the very act “seems like a deliberate ploy to implicate the Nagas and drag them into the ongoing ethnic conflict.”

The SDSA called the very act, cowardly, and a very shameful, while it condemned in the strongest term possible.

SDSA warned that they will not tolerate such act of manipulation and frame-up.

It also urges the concerned authorities to look into it and investigate the matter without any bias and leniency, while assuring of their utmost support in the investigation to catch the culprit to justice.
