UKHRUL: The Sikibung Village Authority has strongly condemned what it claims to be the attempted murder of one of its citizens, Abner Kasar, on July 17, 2026, by individuals described as ‘Kuki narco-terrorists’. The incident reportedly occurred on village premises near the boundary with Thawai Kuki village.
According to the village authority, a group of Kuki individuals was found illegally fishing in a pond owned by Mathotmi Shinglai, a resident of Sikibung village. The villagers allege that the perpetrators were illegally fishing in the pond with a dynamo. Abner Kasar, who happened to pass by, witnessed the act.

“Upon seeing seven Kuki narco-terrorists armed with sophisticated weapons, they held him at gunpoint, captured him, and forcibly took him towards their territory with the clear intention of killing him. During this ordeal, he was repeatedly threatened with death. He was brutally assaulted, beaten severely, and struck multiple times with the butt of a firearm. As he was being taken away to what seemed like certain death, Mr. Abner displayed remarkable courage and presence of mind by escaping through the Havako river stream, thereby narrowly saving his own life,” stated the village authority.
Condemning the act, the authority emphasized that such blatant trespassing and illegal fishing on another person’s property have no place in any civilized society. They also asserted that the conduct of these Kuki narco-terrorists shows a complete lack of respect for the law, morality, and human decency. “Even more horrifying is their attempt to murder an innocent individual simply for witnessing their criminal activity. Such barbarity is beyond comprehension and defies all moral and civilizational standards,” they added.

Additionally, the villagers questioned the role of the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel stationed nearby. “What were they doing while these events unfolded right before their eyes? Why are Kuki narco-terrorists allowed to roam freely with sophisticated firearms while, on the other hand, four innocent villagers remain in police custody after being arrested by the Bihar Regiment without any lawful or convincing justification? Why has the enforcement of law and order become so glaringly selective, discriminatory, and unjust?” the villagers asked.
Furthermore, they stated that had the victim not managed to escape through extraordinary courage and determination, he would almost certainly have been murdered, and his body disposed of in an attempt to erase all evidence of this heinous crime.

“As both the security forces and state authorities have demonstrably failed in their constitutional duty to safeguard the lives and security of innocent civilians, showing little genuine interest in protecting our people, we are left with no choice but to unite and defend ourselves against such grave threats to our lives and security. Should any further untoward incidents occur in the days to come, the State Government and security forces will bear full responsibility for the consequences arising from their continued failure to discharge their duty and ensure the safety of law-abiding citizens,” they cautioned.
