Chandel: Sirti Upa Ruh (Monsang Tribe Union), the apex body of Monsang Naga Tribe on Thursday held installation and blessing service of the newly elected Sirti Upa Ruh (SUR) executive council for the tenure 2022-2024 at Ng. Mono Monsang Memorial Hall, Japhou.

Upa Ts. Andrew, speaker SUR gave his warm welcome note to all dignitaries and members present on the auspicious occasion. Rev. Alani Shongsir, Executive Secretary, Monsang Naga Baptist Churches Association (MNBCA) invoked God’s abundant blessing upon the newly elected SUR executive leaders. “Commitment, sacrifice, integrity and sincerity are the principles of sound leadership,” he mentioned. The new executive council is headed by Upa Ng. Benithan as President, Upa Sh. Beshani as Vice President, Sh. Victor as Gen.Secy. Upa Ts. Monichung as Finance Secy and W. Colleng Kelly as Social and Cultural Secy respectively. The above SUR executive council for the tenure 2022-2024 were declared elected during the SUR General Assembly held on 27th November 2021. The election was done through the election process under the SUR Election Commission 2021.

Upa Ng. Gilbert, outgoing President, SUR in his speech highlighted SUR as important apex body and platform for Monsang elders and intellectual groups to frame policies and programe of the community. It is the highest decision making body of the community. He extended his gratitude for the support and cooperation given by the people during his tenure from 2017-2021.

Ng. Benithan, the incumbent President on behalf of his new team, expresses his heartfelt thanks to all Monsang elders, chiefs, friends and well-wishers for re-imposing their faith and trust on him and the new team. He also prayed and hope that God will guide his new team to serve and lead the Sirti Upa Ruh (Monsang Tribe Union), the apex body of the Monsang Naga people. Ng. Benithan, extended special gratitude to Upa Sh. Manglem, ex-ADC member Chandel for his generous help and support towards SUR in particular during times of need.

It is worth mentioning that Ng. Benithan had served the SUR several years in the past in the capacity of Gen. Secy (2002-2005), Vice President (2007-2010) and President (2010-2017). He is elected again as President for the tenure 2022-2024.
