IMPHAL, NOV 13: The Nungba Area Village Authority Association (NAVAA) said today that the association “and the public of Nungba areas took seriously and condemned the firing on two trucks with sophisticated weapons and set ablaze two trucks carrying essential commodities like rice, onion, potato etc. near Old Kaiphundai in between Jiribam and kaiphundai in Tousem sub-division, Tamenglong district by suspected Kuki militants”.

The NAVAA also condemned all forms of violence, attack on innocent civilians, looting of property, money and hijacking of vehicles in the recent past both by the hills based and valley based miscreants. The NAVAA urged both the government and law enforcing agencies to deal with iron hands to those miscreants operating with illegal arms both in the hills and the valley.
However, the NAVAA said it cannot extend co-operation to the RNSOM “which has spelled out not to supply essential commodities including ban of particular tribe/community in Rongmei area which tantamount to inciting communalism”. The NAVAA statement added by saying, “Besides, the UNC, the apex Naga body of Manipur, in its consultative meeting held on May 16, 2023 had decided to remain neutral into the Kuki-Meitei ethnic clash, rather to play the role of peace-maker”. The NAVAA said it is also time for the final examinations of “our children/students in our area, and banning or boycotting a particular community in our area/jurisdiction would mentally, psychologically and socially disturb the minds and study atmosphere of our students and children”.

Anyone who violates our directive would be dealt with stern action as per law,” it asserted.
