Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha Hands Out 479 Offer Letters, Stresses Merit Over Nepotism

Agartala: With the promise of a transparent and efficient government, Tripura’s Chief Minister, Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha called on the state’s newly appointed civil servants to uphold the values of integrity and professionalism in their roles. He addressed them during the appointment letter distribution ceremony, urging them to work towards the welfare of the people and fulfil their duties with honesty.

The ceremony, held at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan here in Agartala, witnessed the distribution of appointment letters to 479 new recruits. These include employees from the Public Works Department (PWD), the Department of Social Welfare and Social Education, and Tripura State Co-operative Bank Limited. The newly appointed candidates were selected based on merit, with no influence from personal connections, in line with the state government’s transparent recruitment policy.

In his welcome address, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha urged the new recruits to leverage technological advancements and work with dedication to accelerate government projects. He also highlighted that Tripura has earned national recognition for excellence in implementing development initiatives.

However, Dr. Saha expressed pride in the state’s commitment to fair and transparent recruitment, highlighting that this process ensures only the most qualified individuals secure positions. He emphasised that the newly appointed employees’ success was a direct result of their own hard work and qualifications, with no room for nepotism.

In his speech, Dr. Saha also shared that 2025 had already seen 3,296 individuals receive government jobs, and from the fiscal year 2018-19 onward, a total of 16,942 appointments have been made across various state departments. Moreover, 5,771 people have been recruited on an outsourcing or contractual basis.

Additionally, Dr. Saha outlined the state’s efforts to generate employment in various sectors. He mentioned that 1,617 new job opportunities have been created in industrial zones under the Tripura Industrial Development Corporation over the last three years. He also spoke about the state’s thriving cooperative sector, which provides indirect and direct employment to nearly 9 lakh people.

The Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission has been instrumental in empowering rural communities, with over 53,000 self-help groups formed, benefiting more than 4 lakh women. The Tripura Urban Livelihood Mission has similarly supported over 63,000 women through 5,941 self-help groups.

At the event, Minister for Social Welfare and Social Education, Tinku Roy, highlighted the importance of the department in supporting society’s welfare and touched on the various welfare initiatives in the 2025-26 budget. He also underscored the significant role of newly recruited employees in advancing the state’s rural economy and infrastructure.

Similarly, Minister for Cooperation Shukla Charan Noatia emphasised the transparency of the recruitment process, noting that the government had introduced several technology-driven initiatives such as e-office and e-cabinet to improve efficiency in administration.
