UBAC President Clarifies; CNPO Denounces Allegations Against Chandel DFO

Ukhrul, Feb 25: The president of the Unique Business Association, Chandel (UBAC), RD Zeepness has issued clarification regarding a news item published in Ukhrul Times on February 24 against the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), as per a press note received by this news organisation at 2:49 PM on February 24, 2025 issued by the general secretary of UBAC, Angpu Khular with the association’s letterhead, signature and official office seal (attached).

The UBAC president’s clarification are furnished below as per his office’s press note issued on February 25, 2025:

1). The UBAC is always working in full cooperation with the present incumbent DFO Chandel namely Dr. N. Munal Meitei.
2). The fake press note to remove the present DFO, Chandel was not at the will of UBAC and the Business Association has nothing to do with such fake press note that perpetrated to tarnish the image of such a good DFO in Chandel.
3). The UBAC opposes the transfer of the present DFO, Chandel. In any case the Govt. transfer the incumbent DFO, w e will oppose and launch any form of democratic protest including bandh, etc.

In connection to this matter, the Chandel Naga People’s Organization (CNPO) has strongly condemned what it calls baseless allegations leveled against the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) by a local business association. In a statement released today, CNPO refuted the accusations, asserting that a thorough investigation found them to be entirely unfounded and motivated by personal vested interests rather than genuine concerns.

Following a rigorous inquiry, CNPO stated that there was no evidence of any wrongdoing or malpractice on the part of the DFO. The organization emphasized that the allegations appeared to be driven by ulterior motives rather than legitimate grievances.

Despite these accusations, the DFO continues to serve the public with unwavering dedication, transparency, and sincerity, CNPO affirmed. The organization called on the public to remain impartial and not be influenced by what it described as spurious claims.

CNPO further assured that it would closely monitor the situation to ensure the DFO’s office remains open, transparent, and accountable to the community. The organization also expressed its appreciation for the DFO’s commitment to public service and pledged continued support for fostering integrity and good governance.

Additionally, CNPO encouraged the public to report any legitimate concerns regarding the DFO’s office directly to them. The organization promised to address such matters fairly and transparently, ensuring justice is upheld.

CNPO urged the community to work collectively in promoting integrity, transparency, and good governance while upholding the principles of justice, equality, and fairness.
