Churachandpur, November 5: The Kuki Human Rights Council (KHRC) has strongly condemned the killing of four United Kuki National Army (UKNA) personnel by Indian paramilitary forces at Khanpi village, Henglep Sub-Division, Churachandpur District, Manipur, on November 4, 2025.

In a press release issued, the KHRC stated that it is “appalled and outraged by the extrajudicial killing of four United Kuki National Army (UKNA) personnel by the Indian Para Military Forces.” The council described the act as “a clear example of the Indian government’s continued aggression and human rights abuses against the Kuki people.”

“The UKNA is not a terrorist organization, but an armed organization that stands for the rights and interests of the Kuki people, demanding a separate administration under the Indian Constitution,” the statement said. “The UKNA’s struggle is a legitimate expression of the Kuki people’s aspirations for self-determination and autonomy, guaranteed under the Indian Constitution.”

The KHRC further stated that “the Indian government’s labeling of the UKNA as a terrorist organization is a blatant attempt to suppress the legitimate demands of the Kuki people and to justify its brutal actions against them.”

Appealing to the global community, the rights body said, “We urge the international community to recognize the UKNA’s struggle as a legitimate fight for self-determination and to hold the Indian government accountable for its human rights abuses.”

3. “Engage in meaningful dialogue with the Kuki people to address their legitimate demands.”

The council concluded by expressing solidarity with the victims’ families, stating, “We stand in solidarity with the families of the victims and the Kuki community, and we assure them of our continued support and advocacy for their rights and justice.”
