Wife of Former MLA Yamthong Haokip Killed in Bomb Blast in Kangpokpi District

Kangpokpi: Charubala, wife of former Saikul MLA Yamthong Haokip, was killed in a bomb blast on Saturday afternoon in their residence in E. Mulam village, Kangpokpi district.

Sources say the blast occurred while she was cleaning her courtyard when the bomb exploded, allegedly planted by unknown miscreants.

Charubala, who belonged to the Meitei community, was rushed to a PHC, a local health center with critical injury (excessive bleeding) around 3 PM on Saturday, and then to Kangpokpi district hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.

Ex-MLA Yamthong Haokip filed a complaint at Saikul police station. Charubala is survived by two children.

Reports indicate that Yamthong Haokip and his daughter escaped the incident unharmed. Authorities are investigating the motive behind the attack, and no other casualties were reported.
