WTR Seized and Destroyed 120 Cases of Liquor

Ukhrul: Wung Tangkhul Region (WTR) on Tuesday seized and destroyed 120 cases of liquor confiscated from hotels, restaurants and shops at Ukhrul Headquarters.

The seized items were destroyed at WTR Office in the presence of media persons.

According to WTR officers, on January 22, 2024, the WTR Office had issued a notification to the owners of hotels, restaurants and shops to dispose of liquors being stored and sold in their business establishment. Failing which necessary action will be initiated. The notification was served to 33 business establishment at Ukhrul Headquarters.

Consequently, on 23 January 2024, the officers of WTR checked and raided hotels, restaurants and shops at Dungrei Junction and Naga Gate and confiscated 120 cases of liquor and were disposed today at its office.

The WTR Office informed that only the goods have been seized this time, but in the future, action would be initiated against those found selling alcohol.

The WTR Officers have appealed the populace to extend cooperation in their drive against eradication of drug and alcohol in the Wung Tangkhul Region.
