CHURACHANDPUR: A nine-year-old girl from K. Geljang village, Churachandpur, received timely medical assistance from the medical team of the Indian Army’s 2 JAKLI after suffering a suspected snake bite while playing near her home on Thursday afternoon.
The child, identified as Themjoukim Haokip, was playing in a farm near her residence at around 2:30 pm when the incident occurred. Villagers initially administered first aid and kept her under observation. However, as pain and swelling in her left foot increased, her family sought urgent medical assistance.
Responding to the call, the Army medical team 2JAKLI unit, rushed to L. Phainom village, where the girl was being brought for treatment. Upon examination, doctors found two bite marks on the sole of her left foot along with swelling and pain around the affected area.

The medical team immediately administered emergency treatment and carried out a 20-minute Whole Blood Clotting Test (WBCT) to check for signs of envenomation. After receiving treatment, the child showed signs of improvement and reported relief from her symptoms. She was later advised to be shifted to a higher medical facility for further observation and specialised care. Medical personnel said the girl is presently stable
