Asufii Football Academy(AFA) wins 76th All India Independence Day Cup

Senapati, Dec 8: Asufii Football Academy(AFA) Mao won the 76th All India Independence Day Prize Cup 2024 edition at Nurul Amin Stadium Naogaon, Assam on Sunday. The visiting team representing Manipur, nominated by AMFA, won the prestigious cup by defeating the tournament’s best contender and money-rich Oil India Football Club by a 2-1 margin in the thrilling grand final.

Asufii Football Academy’s players Bijoy Mukang and Sarormi scored the winning goals in the final and another team player Jangjagin Kipgen won the best player award of the tournament. The AFA was awarded a cash prize of Rs 2 lakhs, a trophy, and citations.

Speaking on their return journey to Manipur, AFA Technical Director Gift Raikhan expressed sincere gratitude to AMFA for nominating AFA for the tournament. The veteran player and senior coach stated that the opportunities and exposures provided by AMFA are golden experiences for young players.

It may be mentioned that the Senapati-based football powerhouse AFA was also a finalist in the NSF Martyr’s Cup 2024.
