Senapati: In response to the non-issuance of a party ticket to a local candidate, Senapati District BJP Karyakartas vandalized their office located on Old Road, Senapati. The incident reportedly occurred around 10:30 am on Saturday morning. The exact identity of the perpetrators could not be ascertained as there were no surveillance cameras or eyewitnesses.

The motive behind the vandalism appears to be targeted destruction rather than theft, as valuable assets were left untouched. Possible motives include protest against the decision to support another party’s candidate for the forthcoming election. The vandalism has disrupted normal office operations, causing delays in workflow and financial losses due to the need for repairs and replacements. Morale among the karyakartas has also been negatively affected by the incident.

Addressing the media, Daiho Aminadab, President of the 47-Karong BJP Mandal, stated that “the district had a candidate seeking the party’s ticket for the upcoming 18 Lok Sabha elections, 2024. Expressing resentment, the BJP worker lamented that central leaders lack concern for the grassroots workers, following the news that BJP will support another political party in the coming Lok Sabha polls.”

“While the BJP is ruling at the centre as well as the state, the BJP worker expressed their discontent over the alliance with another political party when they had their own candidate from the region at the grassroots level. The workers also mentioned that in past elections such as the ADC election and state legislative Assembly, the higher authorities rejected proposals from the grassroots level, leading to failures to elect party candidates on different occasions. The workers emphasized the importance of listening to grassroots workers for better results in the future,” added Daiho Aminadab.
