Body of Woman Swept Away by Floodwaters in Kanglatongbi Found at Sekmai

Body of a 57-year-old woman who was swept away by floodwaters near Kanglatongbi Mandir Crematorium in Imphal West District was recovered on Friday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Januka Mishra, wife of Krishna Prashad Mishra, originally from Serou Part-3 and residing at Kanglatongbi Mandir. Januka was witnessing the breaching of the Imphal River when she was carried away by the flood on May 30 at around 5:30 AM.

Her body was found on the bank of the Sekmai River at Sekmai Parao Mamang Leikai. Following legal procedures, a post-mortem was conducted at RIMS Morgue in Lamphel, with video documentation, before the body was handed over to her family.
