KANGPOKPI: Oasis College celebrated a historic milestone with its first convocation ceremony held at the Conference Hall of LNC Hotel, Kangpokpi on Saturday at 10 am.
The solemn and vibrant programme marked the formal graduation of its first batch of students of Allied Health Sciences and brought together academicians, guests, parents, and well-wishers, a statement read.
The event commenced with the academic procession of graduating students, setting a dignified tone for the ceremony.
Delivering the welcome address, Thathang Vaiphei, Chairman of the Board of Management, extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, Professor Ginlianlal Buhril, who travelled from Aizawl despite a demanding schedule. He also acknowledged the presence of distinguished guests, including Ambassador Gautam Mukhopadhyay Rtd IFS and Michael Suantak entrepreneur, along with board members, faculty, students, parents, and institutional partners.

As a gesture of appreciation, the college presented tokens of recognition to the Chief Guest and partner institutions such as Kangpokpi Mission Hospital, Kanggui Diagnostic Centre, Lifespan Diagnostic, and Letpao Hospital, among others.
A colourful cultural performance by the Oasis College Dance Club, featuring a blend of traditional dances, added vibrancy to the occasion.
The conferment of diplomas was led by Annie Guite Haokip, AHS Coordinator, highlighting memorable moments, including the inspiring case of a mother and her son graduating together. The institution also acknowledged its partners, including CIHR Dimapur for their support.
Awards were presented to outstanding students, with Kimboilhing Sitlhou receiving the Best Discipline Award and N. Marilyn Guite being honoured with the Gold Medal Award.

In his convocation address, Professor Buhril emphasized the importance of lifelong learning, character building, and soft skills. Reflecting on his journey, he encouraged students to remain committed to growth and faith, underscoring that God values one’s present and future more than background. Quoting biblical passages such as Acts 4:12 and Jeremiah 29:11, he called upon graduates to dedicate their lives to meaningful service and purpose. He also appreciated the role of parents and the Board of Management, and proposed the introduction of additional awards, including leadership and co-curricular excellence, in future convocations.
In her valedictory speech, N. Marilyn Guite expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the graduating batch, reflecting on their academic journey and shared experiences. The vote of thanks was delivered by Lunthang Hangshing, secretary of the Board of Management, who acknowledged the contributions of all stakeholders and encouraged graduates to carry forward the knowledge and confidence they had gained as ambassadors of the institution.
