‘Naga Solidarity Walk’ reaches Maram, to culminate at Senapati headquarters on July 29

Senapati: The Naga solidarity Walk under the theme “One People, One Destiny” kick started Thursday morning from Lerie junction, Kohima, at 6:30 am with a prayer. Nagas from all walks of life are participating in the unity journey. The walk is organised by Global Naga Forum in collaboration with various Naga civil organizations including students unions from beyond the borders of Nagaland.
Nagas from Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur and Myanmar are reportedly participating in the rally.

The main objective of the peaceful walk is to break the artificial barriers separating Nagas and to let the world know that Nagas are one people regardless of the artificial boundaries as according to a statement from the Global Naga Forum. On reaching Manipur boundary, different stop points are arranged for water, tea and refreshments for whoever in need till the rally reach Senapati headquarters on July 29.

Mention may be made that different apex CSOs of each Naga tribe in Manipur have extended their support and are participating in the rally representing different Naga districts in Manipur.

The walk is joined by different senior leaders, both young and old from different locations in the two-day solidarity walk.

The Naga Solidarity Walk reached Mao Gate, Senapati district at around 1:30 pm on Thursday. Nagas from Manipur accorded warm reception at Mao Gate as thousands further joined the rally as it pushed off from Mao Gate.

Indian Red Cross Society, Senapati branch received the rally with an ambulance to see if any necessary emergency service was required. Necessary first aid medicines, water, sanitizers and face-masks for all the passengers were provided by the IRCS, Senapati. Over thousands of rallyists reached Maram at around 7 pm on Thursday.

They will hold the night at Maram on Thursday. The walk will commence again in the early morning on Friday and will culminate at Senapati headquarters, Manipur in the afternoon of July 29.
