UKHRUL: The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) is set to introduce 12 additional local languages in Class IX from the academic year 2026.

Apart from the four existing languages—Ao, Lotha, Sütsa, and Tenyidie, the additional languages are Chokri, Chang, Kuzhale (Khezha), Konyak, Kuki, Rengma (Nzonkhwen), Rengma (Nthenyi), Phom, Pochury, Sangtam, Yimkhiung, and Zeme.

According to NBSE, the implementation will proceed in a phased manner, while the syllabus and other relevant details will be updated on the official portal.
