A message printed in connection with the July 9 programme, the apex Naga student body said today that the “Naga homeland” has always been known as a land where people of different communities, faiths, and traditions live together in peace and mutual respect. It further said that, for generations, the Naga people have welcomed every person without discrimination, regardless of religion, race or background. “Today, this spirit of harmony faces a serious concern”, the NSF said, adding, “The brutal killing of six Naga brothers in the Naga homeland has deeply saddened us all”. The NSF “firmly” condemned and called upon the law enforcement authorities for a thorough, transparent, and expeditious investigation to bring all responsible individuals to justice. “It is imperative that such acts of brutality be met with full force of the law to preserve public confidence in our system and safeguard innocent lives”, the NSF asserted.
In view of these concerns, the NSF called upon “our people” not only to mourn and remember them, but also to seek for accountability and justice for “our Naga brothers”, that justice must prevail. “Let us come together in peace and solidarity to honour our six Naga brothers on July 9, 2026, at Phoolbari Junction, Kohima, from 6 pm onwards for a candlelight vigil”, the NSF said.
This gathering is to express grief, stand in solidarity with the bereaved families and to appeal for justice, it added.
