Agartala: When it comes to manufacturing allegations, CPI(M) and Congress might just win the gold medal—at least, that’s the sentiment state BJP spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee echoed on Saturday. At a press meet on Saturday, he unleashed a fiery critique, reminding everyone of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) track record of patriotism during national crises, contrasting it with the opposition’s alleged attempts to distort history.

At a press conference held at the state BJP party office here in Agartala Bhattacharjee addressed the recent accusations made by the CPI(M) against the ruling BJP. He dismissed the allegations as fabricated and accused the CPI(M) of indulging in baseless narratives.

On the other hand, he also targeted the Congress party by accusing it of misleading the public by prioritizing party and familial interests under the pretext of constitutional issues. According to Bhattacharjee, Congress not only deceived the people but also misused power, distorting the BJP’s pride and trust in the Constitution.

Highlighting the role of the RSS, Bhattacharjee stated that during times of crisis including the war with China and other foreign threats the RSS stood firm and acted in the nation’s interest. “After the war with China, the RSS was invited to participate in the Republic Day parade,” he said, adding that the organization also aided the military by constructing airports during wartime and played an active role in disaster relief efforts.

Taking a swipe at the opposition, he accused them of attempting to rewrite history to mislead the people. “The CPI(M) fostered a climate of terror in Tripura during its rule. The public knows how opposition workers were treated back then,” he said, alleging that rural opposition supporters were ostracized socially during the CPI(M) regime. He further added that Congress, too, suffered under CPI(M) rule but now joins hands with them to challenge the BJP.

Bhattacharjee warned that the days of such practices are over under the current BJP regime and urged people to remain vigilant against forces attempting to distort democratic values.
