Further, the Kuki Inpi clarified that Thangminlen Kipgen, president of Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, speaking to the media persons, stated that while all major communities of the state have their own political demands and agenda, it must not hamper the peaceful co-existence of the three major communities. While community agendas and political demands need to be addressed urgently, it is stressed that holding one particular community at ransom by means of imposing a targeted economic blockade is against human rights and must be dealt with strongly.
However, there was no mention of surrendering the political movement of the Kukis, the Kuki Inpi said. “All other narratives propagated online are false, and there was no mention of CoTU or any agenda discussed of surrendering the political movement of the Kukis.”

Thangminlen had stated that the chief minister’s visit brought new hope and optimism and was hopeful that ultimately all communities would learn to live together in peace, setting aside political aspirations.
Notably, the Sangai Express in today’s publication stated that a small constitutional safeguard can end the crisis and that demands do not necessarily mean breaking Manipur, citing a Kuki Civil Society leader. Reportedly, the Kuki CSO leader stated that the Kukis will not be able to survive without a constitutional safeguard in the face of alleged suppression by major communities. Also, as far as the Sadar Hills is concerned, he stated that both Kuki armed groups and the common people work for a common goal.
