Ukhrul, Feb 1: The Tangkhul Frontal Organisations on Saturday temporarily lifted the peaceful protest after their representatives met CM N Biren Singh on Friday night at Imphal.

The Tangkhul Frontal Organisations have been staging a peaceful protest at the Mini Secretariat Complex and DC Bungalow at Ukhrul Headquarters since 30 January 2025, demanding the government to revoke the transfer order of the Department of Personel and Administrative Reforms (Personel Division), Government of Manipur dated 28 January 2025. In this regard, the Tangkhul Frontal Organisations had even requested Chief Minister N. Biren Singh to consider their request. “Having felt the pulse of the people on the ground, it is our fervent and humble request that the Transfer Order of Kengoo Zuringla (IAS) be canceled and that she be retained for at least two years more” stated the letter jointly signed by President of TNL, TSL, TNAL, TKS and TMNL dated 29 January 2025. Â
After meeting CM N. Biren Singh on Friday, and believing in his assurance, the Tangkhul Frontal Organisations on Saturday decided to withdraw the peaceful protest. Vice President of TNL, RS. Jollyson informed that “the peaceful protest will be temporarily lifted. We believe something positive will happen in a few days as per the assurance from the Chief Minister of Manipur.” He also revealed that the team is also planning to get an appointment with the Manipur Governor.

Kengoo Zuringla (IAS) stated, “I, as a government servant, will go to any new place of posting as per the orders of the Government.” She also appealed to the gathering to extend maximum cooperation to any government officials who are posted in the Ukhrul District.
Rev. Zaklei Kaping, Pastor of Phungyo Baptist Church, said a prayer thanking God for ending the protest peacefully. On behalf of Tangkhul Frontal Organisations, the VP of TNL expressed gratitude to Hunphun Shanao Long and their associate units and others Longnao who have rendered their services.
