Tumuyon Khullen Village decries burning of houses at Kazanga Village; Blames Valpabung Villagers

Senapati, April 4: In a disturbing event that could flare up communal animosity among different communities, Tumuyon Khullen village has alleged that some Kuki volunteers, numbering around 30 to 40 members, burned down houses at Kazanga village, a revenue village of the Maram Naga tribe on April 3, 2025.

According to the villagers, the incident occurred around 2:00 PM when suspected Kuki volunteers from Valpabung village, armed with knives and guns, destroyed and burned the houses to cinders.

Sources from the village mentioned that more than 10 houses were reported to have been burned, with properties worth over Rs. 20 lakhs destroyed in the fire.

The said Valpabung Kuki village falls under the Saikul sub-division in Sadar Hills East. In this regard, the chief of Tumuyon Khullen village has filed a police FIR at Kangpokpi Police Station under receipt No. 3447, dated 4/4/2025.
