At least two more persons have contracted Covid-19 from an Imphal returnee who tested positive for the virus on Saturday.

According to official sources, the two persons were among the 15 primary contacts who underwent rapid antigen test (RAT) at Dungrei testing centre after the Imphal returnee tested positive.

On September 19, the Imphal returnee visited Leishiphung Christian Hospital (LCH) for treatment after he fell sick. However, he got suspicious and got himself tested for the virus on RAT during which his report emerged positive.

The Imphal returnee’s residential house located at 7th Finance Commission Quarter in Ukhrul town and another house belonging to a relative at Langdang village were immediately brought under containment zone the same day.

Meanwhile, the district surveillance team is stepping up contact tracing of the patients and have directed the family members of the households to remain in isolation under home quarantine until further orders.

The sources further informed that DSO team would be conducting testing of the family members of the two households after five days.

It is learnt that the patient reportedly returned from Imphal on September 15 last and developed the symptoms on the fourth day.

He had stayed at a friend’s house at Nagaram in Imphal and the entire family members of the household would be testing for the virus on September 21, sources added.
