CHANDEL: The District Administration, Chandel concluded a week-long awareness and outreach campaign under the Janjatiya Gaurav Autsav 2026 as part of the Jan Bhagidari initiative themed “Sabse Door, Sabse Pehle”, Deputy Commissioner, Chandel district, Manipur Hemant Kumar said.
Speaking to the media, Chandel Deputy Commissioner Hemant Kumar stated that the Information, Education and Communication (IEC) drive for the Dharti Aaba Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAGUA) scheme was carried out from May 18 -25 across the district. During the period, nine camps were organised covering 71 villages under the scheme.
He said that although 91 villages in Chandel district, Manipur fall under the DAGUA scheme, around 20 villages were presently deserted, and therefore the campaign focused on the remaining 71 villages. More than 1,000 people reportedly participated in the camps.

The DC said the camps aimed at saturating various government welfare schemes and services. Aadhaar enrolment drives conducted during the campaign resulted in 175 new enrolments, besides over 200 mandatory biometric updates.
Officials from various departments, including Health, Agriculture, Forest and Education, participated in the outreach programme to extend benefits and services to eligible beneficiaries. Efforts were also made to facilitate health cards, ration cards and other welfare-related services.

Hemant Kumar further stated that transact walks were conducted in every village to map resources, population and educational institutions. The exercise also identified critical gaps in the villages, which the administration plans to fill the gap through various schemes.
He said the campaign was organised with the objective of ensuring that no eligible beneficiary is left out from availing government schemes and services.
