UKHRUL: The Zeliangrong Students’ Union Nagaland (ZSUN) on Saturday filed a complaint at Jalukie Police Station seeking registration of an FIR against Tony Singsit over alleged inflammatory and communal remarks linked to the ongoing conflict in Manipur.
The complaint, submitted by ZSUN leaders Edward Nring, Eteigum Ndang and Luongsangyiile, accused Singsit of spreading “false and provocative statements” through a viral interview aired on May 16.

According to the FIR complaint, the interview allegedly targeted the Zeliangrong Naga community and attempted to link Zeliangrong groups with the recent Kangpokpi incident without evidence.
ZSUN alleged that the statements could disturb communal harmony and escalate tensions between communities in Manipur and Nagaland.
The ZSUN further claimed that Singsit repeated what it described as a “drunken brawl” (in Litan) narrative regarding the origins of the present conflict and termed it a deliberate attempt to distort historical and ground realities surrounding the violence.
The complaint also cited statements issued earlier by organisations including the All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM), the United Naga Council (UNC), and ZUF rejecting allegations made against the Zeliangrong community.
Seeking legal action, ZSUN urged police to register an FIR under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including sections related to promoting enmity between communities, public mischief, and provoking breach of peace.
The Zeliangrong student body also requested authorities to examine the viral interview and related social media circulation, and to take steps to prevent further dissemination of the content.
Documents accessed by Ukhrul Times show the complaint was received at Jalukie Police Station on May 24.
