SENAPATI: The Senapati District Students’ Association (SDSA) has strongly denied allegations linking the organisation and its members to the recent incident near Mount Everest College, where civilians were reportedly stopped and detained.
Speaking on behalf of the organisation, SDSA Vice President M K Jacob Digabou categorically rejected the claims, describing them as “false, baseless, and misleading.” He asserted that neither SDSA nor any of its members were involved in stopping, detaining, or handing over civilians in connection with the incident.
Digabou stated that various SDSA units had already expressed resentment and condemnation over attempts to associate the organisation with the matter, especially when responsibility had allegedly been openly claimed by other groups. According to him, the narratives being circulated appeared to be deliberate attempts to defame and character-assassinate SDSA and its members.
Amid the growing controversy, SDSA has also expressed its willingness to support an impartial investigation into the matter. Digabou said the organisation has “nothing to hide” and welcomes any fair and independent inquiry to establish the truth. He further revealed that an FIR has already been lodged regarding what the organisation described as defamatory allegations made against SDSA and its members.
“We firmly believe that facts and evidence must prevail over rumours, assumptions, and emotionally motivated narratives,” he said.
The SDSA vice president also clarified that the organisation has no organisational linkage or operational involvement with groups such as the Naga Village Volunteers Northern Command or the Tahamzam Youth Forum (TYF), both of which have been mentioned in connection with the incident. He maintained that SDSA functions independently as the apex student and intellectual body of the district under its own constitutional mandate.

Calling for restraint during the ongoing tensions, Digabou appealed to individuals, organisations, and social media users to refrain from spreading unverified information and provocative narratives that could worsen the situation on the ground.
“Irresponsible statements made by individuals sitting far away from the actual situation only make life more difficult for innocent civilians back home,” he remarked.
At the same time, SDSA strongly criticised the statements made by the Principal of Young Pillars College, expressing disappointment that serious allegations were made publicly without what the organisation considered proper verification of facts and ground realities.
Digabou said it was “unfortunate and concerning” that even educated individuals could be influenced by one-sided narratives and misinformation. Since an FIR has already been filed, he added that SDSA hopes all individuals connected with what it described as defamatory statements would also be included in the legal process and investigation.
