Th. Muivah, the leader of NSCN-IM, described Ms. Yhome as an iconic woman with a gracious demeanor who won the hearts of many. He noted that she lived an exemplary life, making sacrifices for the good of the Naga people. “In her passing, not only has her family suffered a loss, but the entire Naga community has lost a remarkable soul. The void she leaves behind is irreplaceable. She led a life that others should aspire to emulate,” he stated.

Chuba Ozukum, Convener of the Global Naga Forum, expressed deep respect on behalf of the forum. He reflected on their travels together over the years, where they met individuals from various sides of the conflict in efforts to promote reconciliation, conduct relief missions, and engage in consultations regarding the Indo-Naga political issue. “Those journeys showcased the true measure of her character. She remained calm in challenging situations, showed compassion for those in distress, and was unwavering in her commitment to peace and justice. She never sought recognition; rather, she believed that serving people was her calling,” he said. Ozukum also highlighted her legacy as one of the courageous women who fought vigorously for implementing a 33% reservation for women in the Urban Local Bodies of Nagaland.

“For the Global Naga Forum, Angela was much more than a member; she was a trusted colleague, a devout individual, and a firm believer in the vision of a united Nagaland that transcends artificial borders and divisions. She understood that lasting peace is achieved not only through political agreements but also through reconciliation, compassion, and a willingness to help those in need,” stated the GNF while offering prayers for her bereaved family.

The Forum for Naga Reconciliation remarked that Vilanuo Angela Yhome dedicated her life to the causes of peace, justice, reconciliation, and human rights. “She was a resilient and unwavering voice for the Naga people and an inspiration across generations. With her untimely passing, we have lost a dear friend, a gracious leader, and a wonderful human being who was selfless, full of life, and radiated positive energy,” expressed the FNR.
