Kohima, June 7: The Rising People’s Party (RPP) has strongly criticized the NDPP-BJP coalition over alleged attempts to induct an officer into the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) through what it described as a “backdoor” process, bypassing established recruitment norms.
In a statement, the RPP accused the government of discarding established rules and norms by inducting individuals into the IAS through backdoor means. “To throw every rule book into the dustbin by inducting Tom, Dick and Harry into the IAS through backdoor, bypassing all government rules and norms is but the fruit of an oppositionless government,” it stated.

The party explained that “ex-cadre” refers to temporary or arbitrarily appointed employees of the state government, as opposed to regular cadre employees appointed through formal routes like the NPSC. The RPP claimed that many ex-cadre appointees are backdoor entrants, and thus, the concerns raised by CANSSEA, FONSESA, NSSA, and NF&ASA are “very serious.”
Referring to a past instance, the RPP alleged that an officer who was similarly appointed through backdoor was inducted into the IAS years ago. According to the party, the move went unchallenged at the time due to public unawareness and the lack of an opposition.

Now that the matter is public, the RPP has called upon CANSSEA, FONSESA, NSSA, and NF&ASA to disclose the name of the current IAS candidate in question and clarify whether the individual entered service through backdoor means.
Calling the issue a reflection of how “manipulative an oppositionless government can be,” the RPP welcomed the firm stand taken by the staff associations. “The bold manner in which CANSSEA, FONSESA, NSSA, and NF&ASA have stiffly opposed the government on the issue is a welcome step in the right direction,” it said. The RPP assured that it would continue supporting the associations in ensuring that “unqualified and undeserving candidates do not pollute the system.”
