TYCM Holds Public Meeting on Critical Tribal Issues

Ukhrul, Feb 1: The Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM), General Headquarters, held a public meeting today at the Tarung Community Hall in Imphal to discuss important issues affecting the tribal community.

According to the TYCM press statement, the meeting addressed several critical issues affecting the tribal community especially the delay in conducting Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) elections or the Non-conduct of Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) elections, and the non-recruitment for vacant posts in the Directorate of Tribal Affairs & Hills Department, Tribal Research Institute (TRI), Manipur State Commission for Scheduled Tribes (MSCST), and Manipur Tribal Development Corporation Ltd. (MTDC).

The meeting also discussed the Creation of a Director Post as a Departmental Post by framing the Recruitment Rules (RR) for the Direct Recruitment of the Director, Tribal Research Institute (TRI), Manipur, and the regularization of 9 (Nine) contractual Employees in the Manipur State Commission for Scheduled Tribes (MSCST). The TYCM stated that the regularization of the nine contractual employees is vital for the smooth functioning of the Commission. Further, the meeting also emphasized the cancellation of two nominated MSCST members on 26th December 2024 which were made without due advertisement or invitation for applications.

The house unanimously endorsed the issues and scheduled the next meeting for February 2025 to continue discussions. Representatives from various organizations, including the Imphal Naga Forum (INF), Tk. Moshilpha (Ex-Candidate of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly-2022), leaders of tribal civil society organizations (CSOs), youth clubs, intellectuals, and social workers attended the meeting.
