Churachandpur: The National Revolutionary Front of Manipur (NRFM) has claimed responsibility in the killing a 40-year-old Anand Gupta in Churachandpur. Anand Gupta who stayed in a rented house with his brother running a variety shop business at Zion Street, Salem Veng was shot dead allegedly by two armed assailants at 7 pm on Friday evening.
According to a news report in Chongthu News Service, a press note issued by one Sanajaoba Meetei, publicity secretary of NRFM claimed responsibility in the killing of Anand Gupta.

The militant outfit stated that Anand Gupta indulged in illegal trade of liquors and contraband drugs and procured the same from outside Manipur from more than 20 agents. NRFM also claimed that Anand was a kingpin in drug racket in Churachandpur.
NRFM in the press note maintained that it had already warned Anand Gupta to stop his illegal activities. The valley based militant outfit stated it fired warning shots at his shop before his killing on June 17.
Anand Gupta is said to be the son of Pambusham Gupta of Rota district Bihar and is survived by his wife and two children. He was a resident of Eden Hotel, Salem Veng Churachandpur.
