Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Friday that the last remaining militants of Kuki National Liberation Army (KNLA) surrendered in Karbi Anglong district, Assam.
Himanta Sarma who also holds home portfolio confirmed the news from his twitter handle. The surrender ceremony of the militants along with arms was held at Karbi Anglong.
Confirming the news on twitter, “Under the guidance of Adarniya PM Shri Narendra Modi ji and Home Minister Amit Shah ji, we’ve had a major achievement towards permanent peace in Assam. Last remaining cadres of UPRF/KNLF(KUKI) surrendered & handed over 17 weapons including 4 assault rifles to DIG & SP, Karbi Anglong,” Assam Chief Minister wrote.
The twenty seven UPRF/KNLA militants, twenty-three from Dillai Police station, one from Manja Police station, two from Bokajan and one from Haflong surrendered with 17 firearms, including four assault rifles, five pistols and six country-made guns before the police in Karbi Anglong, according to the Kuki National Liberation Army.
