UNC issues warning on imposition of monetary demands

Senapati: The United Naga Council (UNC) has come out strongly against any organization/group or individual imposing illegal monetary demand to some Naga villages. This statement comes after the organization heard of such illegal activities taking place in some Naga villages of Manipur.

In a press statement issued from the Publicity wing of the United Naga Council (UNC), it stated that every Naga village, big or small has a definite geographical area and its traditional boundaries with all neighbouring villages.

The statement mentioned that Naga people is desirous of upholding the principle of peaceful coexistence of all ethnic groups living in the state of Manipur by respecting each other’s land, identity, history and political rights. However, the United Naga council is pained to learn that some organizations/groups are imposing monetary demand to some Naga villages.

In this regard, the United Naga council appeals to all concerned organizations/groups or individuals to refrain from such monetary demand in any form so that, peace and tranquillity prevails amongst all communities living in the state of Manipur.
