NNN | DIMAPUR, AUG 1: Total lockdown extension for another week in the state capital Kohima has begun on Saturday. The previous one-week total lockdown in the state expired on July 31.

According to the administration, the extension of the total lockdown in Kohima has become necessary as more and more COVID-19 cases are being reported from outside the quarantine centres.

The administration has notified that the total lockdown of the Kohima Municipal Area under Kohima Sadar Jurisdiction has been further extended for a period of 7 days with effect from August 1.

“The extension has been necessitated by the recent surge in the COVID-19 cases in the district outside the quarantine centres,” the order of the administration said.

“The new order is in continuation of the order passed on July 23 and as per the decision of the District Task Force (DTF) Kohima during its emergency meeting on July 31. All the provisions of the total lockdown order as given on July 23 will be in force”, the order added.
Meanwhile, regarding the state commercial hub Dimapur, the district administration has decided not to extend the total lockdown being imposed in Dimapur. The total lockdown in Dimapur will expire on August 2.  According to the District Task Force (DTF), Dimapur has decided to relax the total lockdown and have a partial lockdown from August 3.

During this partial lockdown, shops selling essential items and vegetables would be allowed to open between 9 am and 2 pm on a daily basis except on Sundays. Wholesale markets would be allowed to open from 5 am to 9 am.
