Mob vandalises Meitei Advocate’s residence for filing Prof Kham Khan Suan Hausing’s case

Imphal: Irate mob vandalized the residence of Advocate Soraisham Chitaranjan, who had filed a case for Professor Kham Khan Suan Hausing. The incident occurred at around 2 PM at Chitaranjan’s residence in Singjamei Chingamakha Maibam Leirak. Manipur police arrived at the scene to control the situation. According to the family members, few miscreants entered their residence and caused some destruction last evening as well.

Advocate Soraisham Chitaranjan, a member of the High Court of Manipur, clarified during a media briefing at the Manipur Press Club that he does not personally know Professor Kham Khan Suan Hausing who is based in Hyderabad, and they have never spoken, not even over the phone. Chitaranjan explained that his mentor, Senior Advocate Anil Grover of the Supreme Court, contacted him and requested his assistance in Professor Kham Khan Suan Hausing’s case. Initially, he declined but eventually filed the case at the request of Senior Advocate Anil Grover. All the necessary case documents were provided by Senior Advocate Anil Grover.

Chitaranjan further mentioned that he withdrew from the case when it was scheduled before the bench of Justice Guneshor as item number 3 on August 31. The court permitted him to withdraw, and he stated that he had filed the case as a gesture of courtesy to his mentor, Anil Grover.
