CEO holds meeting with political parties regarding expenditure monitoring

Kohima: A meeting with political parties with regard to expenditure monitoring measure was held at the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Nagaland in Kohima today.

CEO V. Shashank Shekhar, IAS called on the political parties to follow the procedures and guidelines of Election Commission of India (ECI). He also directed them to maintain proper record and submit their daily expenditure reports to Election Expenditure Monitoring (Nodal Officer) under DEO’s on time.

The CEO also apprised the representatives of political parties to adhere to the ceiling limit of Rs. 28 lakhs expenditure for each candidate. The General Observers, Central and State agencies will be monitoring their expenditure, therefore, he urged all the political parties to take the matter seriously.

In the meeting, Election Expenditure Monitoring, Nodal Officer, CEO Office, Hiazu Meru informed all the parties to submit the name list of star campaigners before the day of filing nomination. 

The CEO then appealed to the political parties to step forward to curb fake news on social media and to report to their respective DEOs or dial toll-free number 1950 in case of any complaint.
