Jamir, class of 2021 from Nagaland in her speech said her journey began in India where she grew up. She said that she was labeled different and mistook that for something negative as an Indian Naga. Unabated her burning desire to learn, absorb information and grow as and individual and as a computer engineer increased.

Jamir, a Virtual Reality (VR) developer from Dimapur arrived in United Stated just two years ago travelling 27 hours from India. Today, living in New York City, Jamir has earned Marsters of Arts in UX/UI Design and Development from New York Institute of Technology.

Jamir has a bachelor’s of engineering in computer science from Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering in India’s Silicon Valley, Bengaluru.

Her profile on the College’s site says that she chose New York Tech because of its reputation, the UX/UI curriculum, and its location.” She adds that “The curriculum provides students with necessary design and hands-on development skills, including AR (augmented reality) and VR (virtual reality). These are essential for a successful career in industries such as entertainment, gaming, engineering, science, medicine, and the military.” Her ultimate goal is to become “an entrepreneur who develops, directs, and designs UX/UI, including AR/VR as needed, for global Fortune 100 companies.”

Jamir, according to East Mojo begged the ‘Best Practitioner Poster Proposal’ award by the Immersive Learning Research Network (iLRN) at the iLRN 2020 Conference.
