Manipur reports 72 fresh COVID-19 cases on Sunday

On April 1 last, the state recorded only one single-day spike even though the single digit daily spike recorded in the previous month, March.

The state started witnessing double digits single-day caseload since April 7 last with 12 fresh positive cases on the day.

However, recording of above 20 positive cases in the daily caseload started from April 13. After 39 fresh positive cases were reported on Saturday, the daily caseload jumped to 72 on Sunday.

The single-day spike of 72 fresh cases pushed the overall infection tally of the state to 29,721 on Sunday. The tally included 29,090 recoveries, adding seven recovered cases reported in the past 24 hours.

The number of active cases rose to 255 and the recovery rate dropped to 97.87% against the previous day’s 98.09%.
