Kangpokpi, April 1: The Konsakhul Village Authority has issued a strong rebuttal to T. Achung of Kharam Thadoi with regards to his “deliberate attempts of character assassination against Konsaram (Konsakhul) under the duress of the foreigners on April 4, 2023 through press conference”.

In a statement today, Konsakhul VA, chairman, D. Adam said, “It is our sincere advice to our brothers from Kharam Kom Naga not to succumb to the propaganda of the foreigners who in fact is taking cover from you as their deceitful lies had already been exposed”.

According to D. Adam, Kharam Kom Naga village (presently called as Kharam Thadoi) located near National Sport University (NSU) was founded by Manaipu Krong, “a Naga by blood”, who had descended from Konsaram village. The ancestral boundary of Konsaram (Konsakhul) lies between Khunkhu (Ariang) Naga in the north and Ireng (Puilong) Naga in the south and Khurkhul-Chirang in the east and Samuk (Tucha) in the west. This compact land called Konsaram (Konsakhul) has a glorious history of peaceful co-existence with all the indigenous neighbouring villages in Manipur, D. Adam said.

On humanitarian ground, Manaipu Krong allowed a few Vaiphei nomads to settle in his khuman (Kharam Kom Naga village), the Konsakhul Village Authority chairman also said. This Kharam Kom Naga village later came to be known as Kharam Vaiphei. In due course of time, Manaipu Krong migrated towards the plain areas in search of a better future and after successive shifting he founded new Kharam Kom Naga village (presently called as Kharam Thadoi). Therefore, in public interest it is clarified that Kharam Kom Naga is one of the oldest indigenous inhabitants in Manipur, D. Adam added.

According to the chairman of the Konsakhul Village Authority, the descendants of Manaipu Krong were: Rangpu, Atong, Yaima, Milang, Mahijao. Some of them are still alive till today. All these historical facts are documented by the President Manipur State Darbar (PMSD) and Magisterial Court Orders issued by Christopher Gimson, Crawford, and SJ Duncan, he also said.

The statement of the Konsakhul Village Authority chairman then said, “Disturbance to the age-old peaceful coexistence and all the problems started with the arrival of foreigners in the region”. In the name of tribals and Christianity “these foreigners” won over the hearts of the indigenous peoples in order to live with them, he also stated. Later on “these foreigners” imposed their hegemony and tried to control the culture, custom, tradition and identity of the innocent indigenous Kharam Kom Naga (Kharam Thadoi), D. Adam added.

Over a period of time, “these foreigners” also instigated factions and hatred in Kharam Kom Naga village (Kharam Thadoi), thereby, causing fratricidal conflicts themselves, D. Adam stated. Even now, there is an infighting going on for chieftainship of Kharam Kom Naga village (Kharam Thadoi). This fight was engineered by the “foreigners” to destroy and finish the culture and identity of the innocent indigenous Kharam Kom Naga village by encouraging infighting among themselves, the Konsakhul Village Authority chairman also said.

D. Adam then said, “Being brothers by blood we will not remain mute spectator to what is happening in Kharam Kom Naga village (Kharam Thadoi)”. He added, “We know who is behind the entire desperate attempt to destroy and finish the identity of Kharam Kom Naga village”. He then warned, “If these anti-social elements and foreigners do not mend their ways, we will initiate necessary actions against the perpetrators responsible for disturbing the peaceful atmosphere in the region”.
