Kohima: The 1st Annual General Meeting of the National People’s Party (NPP), Nagaland State for the year 2023 was held at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur on March 30, 2023.

The State President, Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema in his presidential address, expressed his immense gratitude to the party workers and supporters for their relentless confidence and faith in the party. He congratulated the 5 MLAs of the party who have come out successful despite all the odds and hoped that they would work for the betterment and progress of the state as a whole and also urged them to support and work in sync with the party men for the larger interest of the party which has been monumental in their success.

He also thanked the State Government led by the Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio for appointing one of the party’s MLAs, C. Kipili Sangtam, as the Chairman of DPDB, Kiphire. He maintained that the NPP has always shown an upward trend since 2017 and has been successful in representing the people’s cause despite all the odds. He termed cohesion, symbiosis and loyalty as the key factors for the success of any organization including the NPP and so he called upon the partymen to maintain the decorum of the party.

Underscoring the essence of rough weathers making a strong captain, he opined that despite many challenges, upheavals and turmoils in the past, he and his team were able to take forward the principles of the party with utmost loyalty and integrity even when there were literally no MLAs in the party and without much help or resources. He therefore encouraged the gathering to remain firm in the party ethics and principles and take the legacy of the party forward through coordinated efforts.

All the district units unanimously reposed their confidence upon the State President and decided to give him their utmost support because of his elemental role towards the growth of the party.
They further called upon all partymen irrespective of state or districts to work with a common mindset and not seek undue opportunities.

During the business session, the house deliberated on current issues of the party including post-poll analysis, strengthening the party and various proposals to be sent to the party’s high command.

The house, including the District representatives, also unanimously endorsed their fullest confidence and support towards the State President and his dynamic leadership which has taken the party forward at all levels. The house further resolved that there should not be any change of guard at the State level especially at a time when the party has seen such an epochal success which has solely been possible due to the immense sacrifice and consistent efforts of the State President and his team.
