Offline classes for Churachandpur Medical College to begin from June 19

Churachandpur: The 1st year MBBS students of Churachandpur Medical College may now opt to attend classes from JNIMS in Imphal or CMC in Churachandpur.

In response to the Manipur Government’s request in view of the prevailing law and order situation in Manipur, the National Medical Commission, NMC (Undergraduate Medical Education Board) vide letter No. U. 15029/28/2023 UGMEB dated 12th June, 2023 permitted conduction of classes (offline) for 1st year MBBS students of Churachandpur Medical College at both Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Imphal and Churachandpur Medical College, Lamka, Churachandpur until situation in Manipur returns to normalcy.

According to a notice dated June 14, issued by Director of Churachandpur Medical College Dr. (Prof) S Iboyaima Singh, classes (offline) will start from 19th June 2023 (Monday) at the two colleges.

Students of the medical college may opt for either JNIMS or CMC as per their convenience, to attend the classes and the same may be intimated to the Dean (Academic) of CMC in writing or through e-mail: churachandpurmc@gmail.com, WhatsApp and SMS at 923-390-2692. The notice further informed that for hostel accommodation in Imphal, preference will be given to students from outside of Manipur and from outside of Greater Imphal.

It may be mentioned that Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated Churachandpur Medical College in January 2023.

“What was once a dream six years ago, the BJP 2.0 government has delivered the first ever Medical College in a hill district of Manipur in Churachandpur,” N Brien Sing had said in the run up to the inauguration.
