Imphal: Governor of Manipur, Anusuiya Uikey today said she had advised the state government to decide the date of summoning Manipur Legislative Assembly session.

When asked by reporters on the sidelines of a programme in Imphal about the demand of convening a “special session” of Manipur Legislative Assembly, the Governor said that, as demanded by civil society organisations, she had advised the government to decide the date of summoning the Assembly session accordingly.

The Governor was visiting a relief camp at Youth Hostel, Khuman Lampak in Imphal East to attend the blessings ceremony of new born babies at the relief camp.

The Governor attended the rituals of the newly born babies and gave her blessings to the babies. She also expressed her best wishes for the babies and their parents. After the ritual ceremony, the Governor said all efforts are on for the restoration of peace and harmony in the State. The Governor presented gifts along with cash to the mothers. Altogether, 36 women including 24 pregnant and 12 lactating mothers are in the camp.

After the ceremony, talking to media, the Governor said all “stakeholders” need to work together for the restoration of peace and harmony in Manipur. She also said sense of brotherhood has to be restored so that both the communities can live together as usual.
