A Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for holding entertainment programmes is coming up soon, said Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh.
Talking on the sideline of a BJP function in Imphal on Tuesday, Biren Singh said that the state government is planning a SOP for entertainment. The chief minister attended the celebration of the 41st foundation day of BJP.
The chief minister’s assertion was in the backdrop of increasing events of musical concerts and other entertainment programmes at various places of the state, particularly in the valley districts after the recently concluded five-day Yaoshang festival.
The chief minister then lauded the people of the state while claiming that they fully extended their cooperation in maintaining COVID-19 protocol during the recently concluded festival (Yaoshang).
N Biren, then expressed his concern over the second wave of COVID-19 witnessed in the country and said that his government is taking up stringent measures to curve the second wave in the state.
He said that stringent preventive measures are put in place at Imphal Airport and other land routes connecting the state with other parts of the country.
Biren Singh stressed the need for taking utmost care to prevent the spread of this disease in the state, while making an appeal to the people to vaccinate themselves against COVID-19.
“I have also suggested officials concerned with the Health department to speed up the vaccination drive,” he said. At the same time, he urged the people to ensure wearing face masks and maintain social distancing while going out at public places saying that his government is trying its best to prevent the second wave in the state.
