Imphal: Sleuths of anti-smuggling unit of Imphal Customs Division have arrested two alleged drug smugglers with a huge quantity of illegal drugs worth over Rs 2.69 crore (in the international market value).
Police said today that 26,280 pieces of amphetamine pills and 760 gram of raw opium were seized from the possession of the two persons. The seized drugs would be worth over Rs 2,69,49,000 crore (in the international market value).

One of the arrested persons is from Assam and he has been identified as Baharrundin, while the other one has been identified as Panthidhan from Manipur, according to the police.
The sleuths arrested them from the Keithelmanbi area in Imphal West district on Monday afternoon, around 3.40 pm, the police also said.

The sleuths conducted a search operation in the area acting on specific information regarding movement of drug smugglers in the area.
The arrested alleged drug smugglers were booked under the relevant sections of the ND&PS Act, the police added.
