Nagaland: AR Conducts National Integration Tour for School Students from Meluri and Phek Dist

Kohima: The National Integration Tour (NIT), organized by the Assam Rifles, made its return to Kohima after a successful educational journey that spanned from Phek to Bangalore, Belgaum, and Delhi.

A Flag-In Ceremony was held at Kenguruse Hall in Kohima on October 13, 2024, to welcome back the participants. The event was graced by Major General Manish Kumar, SM, Inspector General Assam Rifles (North), as the chief guest.

In his speech, Major General Manish Kumar warmly welcomed the 20 students, 4 teachers, and the Assam Rifles personnel who guided the tour.

He emphasized the importance of such opportunities in fostering a broader understanding of India’s diversity and richness among the students.

Major General Kumar underscored the importance of broadening one’s horizons through travel, both within and outside the state.

He encouraged the students to explore the world around them and highlighted how the Assam Rifles provides these opportunities for the community to gain new experiences and learn more about the world, while building connections with the soldiers who accompany them.

He also expressed his gratitude for the participants’ enthusiasm and hoped that this journey would inspire them to continue learning and growing.
Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of sharing these experiences with family and friends to motivate others, and he discussed the significant impact of such tours on personal development and contributing to the nation’s future, especially in Nagaland.

The event included a short film on the tour, memento presentations, and experience-sharing sessions, allowing participants to reflect on their journey.

During the event, the Assam Rifles highlighted that the tour is an initiative to promote national unity and broaden the horizons of young minds, the Assam Rifles flagged off a 15-day National Integration Tour for 20 students and 4 teachers from the Government Middle School and Government Higher Secondary School in Meluri.

The tour commenced on October 13 in Kohima, aiming to expose students from remote areas of Nagaland to the diverse cultures and experiences of India.

The tour’s first phase took the students to Bengaluru, where they visited several significant sites, including the National Military Memorial, Bangalore Palace, the National Gallery of Modern Art, Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium, Lal Bagh Botanical Garden, and Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace.

A highlight was their visit to the Army Service Corps Center, where they observed the training of future soldiers. In Belgaum, the students gained firsthand insight into the Indian Army’s training standards at the Commando School and the Maratha Light Infantry Training Center.

They also enjoyed the natural beauty of Gokak Waterfalls, Hidkal Dam, and the historic Belgaum Fort. The final leg of the tour took place in New Delhi, where students visited India Gate and the National War Memorial, deepening their appreciation for India’s history and the sacrifices made by soldiers. They also experienced the technological advancements of the country by traveling on the Delhi Metro.
